Sally Old cares deeply about people and has spent her entire working life in science. She began as a scientific officer in a muscular dystrophy research lab before moving into the pharmaceutical industry. Climbing inexorably up the ladder she has moved from technical roles, through study management, to general R&D management. Sally has seen first-hand the transformation of the industry and sweeping changes to the business of research. First witnessing – and surviving – those changes, it’s now Sally’s job to steer the research site she leads through further changes. Sally talks about the lessons she has learned about the business of scientific research. Most importantly, she talks about the art of making decisions the “right” decisions.
